Kids Helping Kids
BBP regularly receives heartwarming stories of how Brookings-area residents are trying to aid the cause. Here's one such story, this one of kids helping kids, that came to BBP Team member Susan Rosen:
The Ascension
Lutheran Middle School Youth Group wanted to make a donation to a local program designed to help other kids. BBP was selected to receive the funds, and the group decided to hold a bake sale to raise their gift donation.
With the support of the youth group leaders, the students attended a Friday night concert, then returned to the church for a lock-in. Overnight, the students were busy in the kitchen, preparing delectable bars and goodies. The following Sunday, before, during and following worship services, the youth group sold plates of home-baked (or church-baked) goodies.
The youth group advisor noted, "Plate by plate, a dollar at a time, the bars and goodies were sold. We were surprised to realize [at the end that] $310.00 was raised for BBP!"
BBP is thankful for the kind hearts, willing hands and generosity of the Ascension Lutheran youth group and the energy and dedication of its leaders!
